Un rond de 36 cm de peau d'éléphant

J'ai eu un choc en découvrant ce CP, tellement ça ressemble à ces boîtes-tato que j'ai pliées ces derniers temps. Les grands esprits se rencontrent, dit-on.

La différence entre Lang et moi, c'est que lui comprend la géométrie et les maths sur lesquelles son pliage se base, moi pas, je travaille par essai et erreur en pliant une feuille de papier. Et il sait aussi mieux que moi se servir d'un ordinateur.
L'avantage de ma petite méthode empirique est de ne produire que des modèles ayant des points de repères simples, qui peuvent être pliés à partir d'une feuille de papier vierge, pas besoin d'imprimer le CP, de télécharger ReferenceFinder, etc.

Ce pot bicourbe est un objet magnifique mais je n'en plierai qu'un seul. Les boîtes-tato je peux en confectionner à toute heure avec n'importe quel papier.

L'idée, les doigts, le papier. Pas d'outils, pas d'intermédiaire. L'essence de l'art, en quelque sorte.

I think I may disagree with you here, on some points. One of the successes of the Renaissance and Enlightenment periods (leaving aside their obvious branding success) was the separation of number from quantity. Mathematical historians point at the move from the geometric to the algebraic approach as the beginnings of modern math. Once they developed a syntax and a grammar, those guys were off and running. Of course, they can no longer read a subway map or make an omelet, but they can can play with their strings in 53 dimensions and they're happy.

Origami does not, I think, allow for such artificial distinctions. What you're calling trial-and-error (or maybe even intuition), I would characterize as a preverbal geometry. And with each new discovery, you are adding to the library of your own reference finder.

That said, I think the use of computers and math as a design aid is just fine. But as I may have mentioned, I'm no purist.

Ce que je considère comme l'essence de l'art ne serait qu'une forme d'autisme préverbal ?
